Governments and private sector need appropriate hazard and risk information to decide and design better policies and investments for reducing and managing the risk, avoiding creation of new risk, and monitoring progress. The most valuable tool for providing the risk information are the hazard and risk assessments which are numerous and improving with the ongoing advancement of science and technology. But conducting risk assessments as a basis for disaster risk management policies and investments is still a rare practice all around the world. A session at WCDRR (http://www.wcdrr.org) is dedicated to shed light on the challenges and opportunities for narrowing the gap between supply versus demand, or production versus use of risk information.
The goal of this short survey is to capture the inputs and opinions of all stakeholders in the disaster risk identification process chain on what the challenges and opportunities are to ensure that the future risk information is useful and used – that is narrowing the gap between the supply and use of risk information.

The results of the survey will be used by session organizers to enhance the format, content, and choice of panellists at the session. The results may also be presented as aggregate findings.
