How to get down and dirty with the budget analysis (including examples) without going overboard and getting too side-tracked. Let’s look at exactly what “facts” you will need to know. And let’s look at what budget advocacy might precede an actual ballot measure.

Value of early polling – can we build on Solano’s process and information?

How to talk about the goal of your effort without scaring people too early with words like “taxes,” “budget carve-outs,” and “ballot.”

Making the case for universal preschool – the unique features of a campaign focused on early care.

Creating a workable structure – inclusion vs. efficiency; small strategy group vs broad-based coalition; political vs. general goals (e.g. when to create a campaign committee?)

Creative ideas about broadening your coalition – identifying potential allies early on.
