Helping the Synod of NSW/ACT Respond to Work Health Safety Laws

Due to the introduction of uniform national Work Health Safety laws in Australia, the legal status of volunteers has changed. The Uniting Church is trying to identify the types of jobs being done by volunteers associated with the church, as well as the level of knowledge about the new rules and their implications.

This will better enable the UCA to ensure volunteers and the church are adequately protected under the new arrangements, and to plan for appropriate training where necessary.

If you currently volunteer for UCA church-sponsored, or UC-sponsored activities, or, for non UCA- or UC-sponsored activities with a group of other UCA or UC members, please take a few minutes to complete the study. Please share the survey link, but only submit one completed survey per person.

Your response is completely confidential and data collected will not be distributed to private third parties. The project is being done at no cost to the Synod, by a University of Sydney post-graduate student and Pitt Street UCA church member, as part of her master’s thesis. Thanks for taking time to participate in this historic study!

Part Two : You are a vital part of the community.
The new Federal Work Health and Safety Act harmonised a patchwork of state laws, and recognised all workers as equal, including those who work as volunteers. 18.If free training was available to you to explain these laws, how likely are you attend?
19.If free training was available to you to help the UC meet Federal compliance provisions, how likely are you to attend?
20.If free training was available to you to better perform your specific volunteer role(s), how likely are you to attend?
21.What format of training would best suit you? Please mark just one.
22.How far would you be willing to travel for a one-off face-to-face group training?
23.How much time would you devote to a one-off face to face group training?
24.How much time would you devote to either a self-paced online slide, or video presentation training?
25.How likely are you to take a brief quiz after any training, to assess your knowledge of key points?
26.How likely are you to retake the quiz, if you do not pass it by at least 50%?
27.Are you more likely to participate, if certification is awarded for successful training completion?
Part Three: Some final questions about your general background
28.What is your gender?
29.What is your age range?
