In 2011, Governor Cuomo established 10 Regional Councils to develop long-term strategic plans for economic growth for their regions. The Councils are public-private partnerships made up of local experts and stakeholders from business, academia, local government, and non-governmental organizations. For more information on the Regional Councils, visit www.regionalcouncils.ny.gov.
A key component of the REDC competition in 2014 will be the Global NY Initiative. Global NY is an effort to attract international investment and jobs to New York and provide New York businesses with the tools and assistance they need to export their products to the global marketplace. In Round IV, the REDCs are asked to develop and implement global marketing and export strategies and to build foreign trade and investment approaches into their strategic planning efforts. The plan is to enable the REDCs to each position their regional markets so as to better compete globally by assembling and aligning related regional assets, such as key employers, top industries, workforce, higher education institutions and transportation infrastructure.
This survey is a step toward the development of the Mid-Hudson REDC’s Global Strategy. Your input provides us the directly related and current information needed to enable us to continue to support your valued contribution to the economy of the region as employers of our residents.
