Throw Down for the Town

Seeds & Weeds Project at TMC Garden

Solving the challenges before us starts in transforming our own neighborhoods and honoring the important role that each person plays in creating a vibrant and thriving community. Join Bay Localize and Victory Garden Foundation on July 28th, 2012 for our Second Annual Throw Down for the Town: The Oakland Service Festival volunteer project. This year our goal is to have 70+ volunteers in attendance at the Telegraph Center's People's Victory Garden. There will be service projects at the garden in the morning followed by a community festival at Snow Park sponsored by Ella Baker Center for Human Rights. Hip-hop artist Mystic, a well-known Oakland native, will be the headliner. SPECIAL THANKS to Trader Joe's and Noah's New York Bagels for providing your light breakfast and snacks at the garden! And, thanks to People's Grocery and Victory Garden Foundation for plants and seeds. Remember: 5316 Telegraph Ave between 52nd and 55th Streets, Oakland CA 94609. But, first - we need you to sign up to volunteer for our service project. Please sign up so that we may plan for your presence and a great volunteer experience.
