2014-2015 Teach Chinese in Arkansas Program
The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) in collaboration with Hanban and the University of Central Arkansas Confucius Institute offer the Teach Chinese in Arkansas Program to bring Chinese education to Arkansas schools. Hanban is a public institution affiliated with the Chinese Ministry of Education. The Confucius Institute is a non-profit, public organization working under the auspices of Hanban.
School districts interested in adding (or continuing to offer) Mandarin Chinese for the 2014-2015 academic year are to submit the Interest Form below. This Interest Form will be available until Friday, November 1, 2013.
All fields are required.
Chinese teachers are available for two (2) years beginning with the 2014-2015 school year. The Chinese teacher’s salary is based on the district’s salary scale for a first-year teacher with a master's degree MINUS $12,000, which is paid to the Chinese teacher by Hanban. The district/organization obligations includes:
- Medical insurance
- Arkansas Professional Pathway to Licensure (APPEL) fees: $1,200 per year for two (2) years
- Testing fees
- Homeland Security fees
- Assign mentor for two (2) years
- Provide transportation
- Assist in locating housing for Chinese teacher
- Assist in acclimating Chinese teacher into the community

In that case, correct all error messages (highlighted in red) and re-submit the form. In most cases, you will receive a confirmation email within two business days of successful submission.
