Call for Proposals: Announcing Seed Fund Money for student organizations whose missions align with that of NCWIT!
The National Center for Women & IT (NCWIT) Academic Alliance (AA) is pleased to announce that Symantec has donated funds to seed programs and initiatives for student organizations that promote increased women in computing and IT programs on our AA member campuses.
Symantec helps consumers and organizations secure and manage their information-driven world. Their software and services protect against more risks at more points, more completely and efficiently, enabling confidence wherever information is used or stored.
How much funding is available?
Each grant is for $1,000.
Who is eligible to apply?
Applications will be accepted from any student computing or IT related student group that is involved in recruiting, retaining and supporting women in technology related majors and are therefore in alignment with the mission of NCWIT. Student group institutions must be a member of the NCWIT Academic Alliance. Student group institutions must also be institutions in the U.S. only. If your institution is not currently on the list, a faculty member of your department needs to complete the online membership form to become a member: http://www.ncwit.org/academic-alliance-membership-form Membership in the NCWIT AA is free and offers the institution many benefits.
Note: An institution can receive only one award per campus institution per year.
When is the deadline and notification?
Notifications will be sent through e-mail. In addition, the recipients will be listed on the NCWIT website.
Spring Semester Deadline: Deadline to submit: March 30, 2014 at midnight MST. Notification date: May 16, 2013.
Who reviews the proposals and what are the review criteria?
Proposals will be reviewed by a committee and the following criteria will be taken into consideration at that time:
- Support letter from advisor or department head
- To what extent does this relate to the mission of promoting women in computing and IT?
- How many students will benefit from the activity?
- How will the initiative be assessed for impact?
