Rules of the Competition:
1. This is a provincial competition, open to all Manitoba residents between the ages of 16 and 24 years as of November 8, 2014. Proof of age will be required before competition.
2. Contestants will agree to be photographed/taped or quoted, and agree to have their names and speeches used for promotional purposes.
3. The winner is expected to take part in the Canadian Young Speakers for Agriculture Competition held at the Toronto Royal Fair on November 8, 2014. All expenses will be covered by our Manitoba sponsors.
4. All contestants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses to the provincial competition.
5. The judges' decisions are final.
6. Any previous first place winners of the competition are not eligible to participate in subsequent Mantioba competitions.
7. It is expected that competitors will conduct themselves professionally and appropriately at all times when representing the Young Speakers for Agriculture competition and its sponsors. As with all youth activities/events, 100% participation is expected from each participant.
8. Each contestant will give a five to seven minute prepared speech, as well as introduce and thank another speaker.
9. Speech must be on one of the five posted agriculture topics shown below or can also be found at: http://www.cysa-joca.ca/core/en
10. Contestants may use a flip chart, or appropriate posters to illustrate their speech. However, slides, films, videos or overhead projectors will not be allowed.
11. There will be strict enforcement of the time limits. Penalities will apply for being over or under the five to seven minute limit.
