General Spring Break Trip Information
Notes on Spring Break Trip Cost: All spring break trip participants will pay a subsidized fee of $400*, which covers all costs related to transportation, lodging, meals, organizational fees, and administrative costs associated with planning the trip.

This subsidized fee is possible because of fundraising efforts for the program. //Each participant must recommend the name of at least one family member, friend, or congregation who may be willing to support the program. These donations are tax-deductible, but are not designated towards a specific student’s fee.//

All participants whose registrations are received by Friday, February 5 at 5pm will be considered for additional need-based financial assistance. Students with additional need are encouraged to solicit personal support.

The balance of your participation fee will be charged to your miscellaneous account and due by March 1. This payment is non-refundable except in extenuating circumstances of health or family emergency.

Registrations submitted after Friday, February 5 must be accompanied by a receipt from Financial Services demonstrating full payment of $400*. Applications will not be accepted after 12 noon on Friday, February 26.

*Participation fee for the Bridge Street House of Prayer site in Grand Rapids is $350.
Regarding transportation: Each trip must have two Calvin-certified drivers per rented vehicle. In most cases, only drivers over 21 years old may drive. Certified drivers will receive a $25 discount in recognition of their added responsibility. Navigators sit in the front seat and carry out all the responsibilities that the driver cannot. It is preferred that navigators are also certified drivers. If you indicate an interest in becoming driver-certified on the application, we will contact you about the certification process in the future.

**All trips are tentative, pending sufficient registered qualified drivers**
Regarding CCE: only one spring break trip offers the option of achieving CCE credit: Sunshine Gospel Ministries in Chicago IL. To receive credit you must register prior to February 5, attend an initial meeting, fill out registration forms and complete assignments PRIOR to the trip itself. Simply participating in a trip DOES NOT fulfill CCE requirements.
Names of all participants will be submitted to Health Services, Academic Disability Coordinators, and the Broene Counseling Center. Staff from these departments may initiate conversation with students they serve about preparing for successful participation in the spring break trip program. Students have the option to provide permission to allow staff from these departments to discuss their situation with staff involved in the spring break trip program.
All participants must agree to adhere to the code of conduct found at http://www.calvin.edu/slc/programs/spring-break/codeofconduct.pdf
