Matter of the Heart: Saving our Daughters & Sons

Message from the Executive Director
In October 2010, Our House will celebrate 15 years of creating deep, lasting change in nine Mississippi Delta counties. Our programs work to stop domestic violence using a holistic approach. Victims of domestic violence (women and their children) have a confidential place of safety where they receive shelter, counseling and tools needed to begin a violence-free life. Our House also provides educational programs to teach others about the plight of battered women and sexual assault victims. Most importantly, Our House equips our sons and daughters with the skills needed to develop and sustain healthy relationships.
Over the last 15 years, more than 10,000 youth attended workshops on healthy relationships in an effort to break the generational cycle of family violence.
Our House programs are making a difference in our son and daughter’s attitudes toward family violence. We achieve this by forging relationships with school systems, faith-based organizations, and civic groups to cement these changes.
Major strides are being made and success is being achieved. Support from the community – support from YOU – will allow programs to continue and grow. Local support will be used to leverage funding from foundation and government sources.
Be our partner in this continuing effort to save our sons and daughters.
