Concentration and Advertising

You are being asked to participate in a psychological study conducted by student researcher Sarah Fleming. This study will take about 15 minutes to complete. You will be asked to view a series of advertisements from popular magazines and fill out several questionnaires. Some of the items on the questionnaires are personal, but none are likely to cause stress greater than what you encounter in everyday life. Through this research, I hope to learn more about the cognitive effects associated with different types of tasks and advertisements.

You are free to discontinue participation in the study at any time. You are also free to choose not to participate in the study, and choosing to forego participation will not adversely affect your relationship with the researcher, the Psychology Department, or Macalester College. All information you provide will be kept confidential and will not be connected with your identity.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Sarah Fleming (sflemin1@macalester.edu); Julia Manor, Directed Research advisor (jmanor@macalester.edu); or Dr. Brooke Lea, chair of the Psychology Department (lea@macalester.edu).

NOTE: This study is for women between the ages of 18 and 30. Because 18 is the age of consent for psychological research, please do not take this study if you are under 18. Thank you.
