Information about this survey

The Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Authority (VARTA), the Robinson Institute (University of Adelaide) and Jean Hailes for Womens Health are trying to help improve the chance for becoming parents for all people around Australia and the project is known as 'Your Fertility'.

Most people want to have a baby at some stage in their life. For some this is not possible for medical or social reasons. For others, some factors in our lives will decrease fertility.

Fertility means the ability to have babies, so things that decrease fertility in men or women make it more difficult to fall pregnant. This happens to around one in ten couples in Australia, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The aim of the “Your Fertility” education campaign is to provide easy to understand information for the community and health care providers about how fertility can be protected. To find out how much people know about the lifestyle factors that affect fertility we have already surveyed over 400 Australians. We have also asked fertility specialists how much they think people know about these matters.

Now we would like to know what other health care providers understand about factors that affect fertility.

If you decide to answer this survey, the information you provide is anonymous (we don’t know who you are) and you are able to stop at any time you wish.

The first part asks about where you work and what training you have had and the second part is about knowledge around fertility. It should take around ten minutes to complete.

The information you provide will guide the development of education material for health care providers like yourself.
