It is important to note that newly appointed committee members are strongly encouraged to attend their first committee meeting which will occur at our Annual Meeting in Orlando, Nov. 5-7, 2014.

Awards Committee: One main function of this committee is to solicit ASCP members for nominations for ASCP awards, review nominees’ credentials and qualifications for the award nominees and recommend to the Board of Directors the names of nominee finalists of qualified individuals for each ASCP award available. The committee will meet at the Annual Meeting and conduct much of its work through conference calls and list servers.

* 4. Innovations and Entrepreneurial Task Force: This task force is created to look at the existing products and resources and determine how these may be used to create educational programs that teach members how to use these tools and help our members expand their practices.

* 5. Pharmacy Educators and Research Council: This is a standing leadership group that meets live quarterly (including the Annual Meeting and Spring Conference). The is group is tasked with assisting leadership and the Education Advisory Council with professional development programing and acts as a resource for education development. Email dialogues and conference calls are also expected for this group’s deliberations.

Advocacy Council: The advocacy council works closely with the Policy & Advocacy, Government Affairs department to develop ASCP’s legislative priorities and communications both on a national and state level. This council is instrumental in being the "eyes and ears" on the state level to keep all members apprised of political issues.

Provider Status Task Force: The Provider Status Task Force will work collaboratively with ASCP’s Professional, Clinical, and Government Affairs staff in formulating plans and policy statements regarding the need for pharmacists to be recognized by the Federal government as health care providers. This committee will spearhead ASCP’s efforts towards this goal and will meet at the Annual Meeting and via conference calls and list servers.

* 8. DEA Task Force: The DEA Task Force is charged with monitoring proposed changes in DEA regulations that affect long-term care pharmacy practice. The task force will develop strategies to work with the DEA and other stakeholder groups to ensure ASCP’s voice is heard and considered by the DEA. The task force will make suggestions to the Board of Directors for policy statements as needed.

* 9. Education Advisory Council: A standing leadership group that meets live quarterly (at the Annual Meeting). List server dialogues and conference calls are also expected for this group’s deliberations. The members of this group are responsible for developing the educational offerings for all ASCP national meetings. The EAC will draft programmatic themes, session descriptions, learning objectives, and identify potential speakers. The EAC works collaboratively with the ASCP Educational Affairs Department staff.
