Dear USIBA Coaches and Participants:
You are invited to participate in a survey regarding your commitment to the sport of boxing and your purchase intentions and decisions regarding boxing equipment. Your opinions are extremely valuable as the USIBA attempts to improve the relevance and safety of intercollegiate boxing. The purpose of this study is to analyze the commitment to the sport among coaches and participants, in addition to exploring what contributes to your purchase decisions of boxing equipment.
The survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. There are no right or wrong answers and the researcher will take all necessary steps to maximize your confidentiality and anonymity. Your participation in this study is voluntary and you may refuse to participate without consequence.
1. There are no costs associated with your participation in this study.
2. There are no anticipated risks involved in this study outside of that found in normal daily activity.
3. Benefits of the study include: an increased conceptual understanding of the sport commitment and purchase intentions and decisions of intercollegiate club level boxing coaches and participants (science and humankind), learning your personal boxing commitment and product attributes that contribute to equipment purchases (personal), and providing valuable data to the USIBA that could assist the association with future equipment partners (organizational).
You will not be compensated for your participation in this study. However, at the conclusion of the survey if you would like to be entered into a raffle to win a free set of mitts or head gear from the USIBA, on the last page please provide your first and last name and email address so that the lead researcher can contact you if you win.
If you complete the survey your responses will be considered part of the study. Having read the above you understand that submitting a completed survey implies your consent to participate in this research.
Any questions regarding this study may be directed to Dr. Lamar Reams.
Thank you for your time and your valuable feedback.
