The Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing has appointed Kristine Battye Consulting (KBC) Pty Ltd to undertake an external evaluation of the National Indigenous Health Workforce Training Package. The three-year Training Package provides funding to a range of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander organisations including the Australian Indigenous Doctors' Association Ltd. The aim of the Package is to:

• Support the strengthening of the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander workforce, and
• Encourage more Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people to take up careers as health professionals.

As part of the evaluation of the National Indigenous Health Workforce Training Package, members of organisations - including AIDA - have been asked to provide information on the types of supports needed to strengthen the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander medical workforce.

All responses will be de-identified and held in confidence by Kristine Battye Consulting. The analysis will be undertaken by Kristine Battye Consulting and responses will be reported on an aggregated basis.

The survey will form part of a report to be provided to the Department in March 2012.
