With the implementation of Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standard, education is moving full STEAM ahead. Part of our quest is to fully engage students in deeper learning. The strategies used with art is easily transparent across curriculum as it becomes integrated. Art is as much a form of innovation as science, or writing.

As part of the Region IV Visual and Performing Arts CISC Subcommittee, we would like to discover the levels of art that students are being exposed to and how we can further increase STEAM integration throughout the county.

For more information, please contact Heather DiMaggio, Contra Costa County Liaison to Region IV Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) CISC Subcommittee at 1heatherdimaggio@gmail.com or Hilary Dito, STEAM Coordinator at Contra Costa County Office of Education at hdito@cccoe.k12.ca.us
