DENVER POLICE PRE-ASSESSMENT
This Pre-Assessment is to assist individuals who are interested in applying with the Denver Civil Service Commission to determine if they meet the minimum qualifications required to be a Denver Police Officer. Failure to meet any of the minimum qualifications will disqualify an individual however some of the standards have particular time limits. An individual may meet the qualification once the time limits have lapsed. Keep in mind that if you do not meet a minimum qualification based on your behavior or criminal history occurring both prior to age 18 and more than five years ago, you may be eligible to request an "Exemption from Disqualification For Behavior Prior To Age 18".

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES OF A DENVER POLICE OFFICER
Police Officers are responsible for performing the essential functions of the job which include
the suppression of crime, the protection of life and property, the investigation of criminal
activity, the apprehension and arrest of violators of the criminal and traffic laws, the recovery of
stolen property and the regulation of non-criminal conduct. Police Officers patrol an assigned
sector, precinct or area, familiarizing themselves with businesses, public facilities, people, etc.
Police Officers investigate all unusual persons, circumstances, and vehicular accidents; make
detailed reports of all such occurrences; and respond to all police calls in their area, as ordered by
