Water Conservation - Realtors Question Title * 1. How important is it for you as a realtor to understand water supply and water conservation issues in this community? Very important Somewhat important Not important Not sure Question Title * 2. What source provided most of what you know about the local water supply? Friends and neighbors Took a class Read up on it Local media Another source Question Title * 3. Which of the following (true statements) were you aware of before taking this survey? (select as many as apply) The three biggest water uses inside the home (on average) are: toilets (27%), clothes washers (22%) and showers (17%). A well-designed and maintained xeriscape can be beautiful, reduce cooling costs, and save 30%-50% of the water required to maintain turf grass. Due to improvements in design, low-flow and dual-flush toilets now work very well (unlike 20 years ago, when there were still design problems). A low-flow toilet costs about the same as a traditional one; a dual-flush toilet is only slightly more expensive. Low-flow showerheads and aerators are available to Las Cruces residents for free from the City Water Conservation Program. Even a small leak in the home can waste thousands of gallons a month. Irrigation schedules should be adjusted at least 5 times a year as the weather changes. Question Title * 4. (If you have another idea beyond what's on our list, we'd love to learn about it) Over time, as neighborhoods become more efficient indoors and outdoors, it will tend to raise property values. Realtors who are knowledgeable of water conservation strategies and resources will be seen as desirable to work with. Older properties which need remodeling will become more efficient to maintain. A property with a sub-standard landscape can be improved and save water at the same time. Low water use properties are cheaper to maintain. Your ideas . . . Question Title * 6.
