The Center for Craft, Creativity & Design is currently working on The New Apprenticeship Project, an initiative to support contemporary creative and skills-based training, updating the traditional form of apprenticeships through research and the publication of resources in order to meet the needs of today’s craft community.
Born out of The Center’s 2012 Craft Think Tank, The New Apprenticeship Project is the result of a meeting of 17 scholars, practitioners, and experts on apprenticeships. For two days attendees met to present and discuss the status of apprenticeship within the American culture and economy today.
We are currently in the process of collecting further information on contemporary examples of apprenticeships in order to inform our goal of better facilitating the connection of mentors and apprentices, and to provide them with toolkits and models that promote positive and productive experiences.
As an apprentice/intern/ assistant, we would appreciate your contribution to our project by filling out this brief questionnaire. Feel free to use the Notes/Comments section at the end of the survey to expand on topics that you feel are pertinent.
By taking this survey and filling out your contact information you will be entered into a drawing to win a Makers: A History of American Studio Craft textbook - the first and only comprehensive history of its kind!
Please note: all information provided in this questionnaire will remain confidential.
