PARTICIPATE IN THE NATIONAL PRACTICE STANDARDS PROJECT

In 2012, a national advisory committee, led by the International Association of Peer Supporters, was formed to establish practice standards for the emerging field of peer recovery support.

Since that time, the group has conducted surveys and focus groups with peer recovery supporters (paid or volunteer) across the US who are practicing in the areas of mental health, trauma, and/or addiction recovery. With over 1000 responses, there was a 98% approval rating for the chosen core values common to the practice of peer recovery support.

The current draft of Practice Standards is based on those core values along with input gathered from the earlier focus groups and surveys. When finalized, the Practice Standards will be used to offer guidance and increase the credibility of the emerging field of peer recovery support.

Please take a few minutes to read the draft and give us your thoughts.

Thank you,
Steve Harrington,
Executive Director,
International Association of Peer Supporters (iNAPS)
