Welcome to the Audible Pedestrian Signal Survey

The City of Reno is embarking upon a project to install new accessible pedestrian signals (APS) at a variety of signalized intersections. APS are devices that communicate information about the WALK and DON’T WALK intervals and signalized intersections in non-visual formats to pedestrians who are blind or have low vision.

The project will be funded through an allocation of Community Development Block Grant funding through the City of Reno.  The City of Reno maintains approximately 180 signalized intersections within the City limits and it is estimated that up to 25 locations may be upgraded with the current funding.

We are seeking assistance from the community to prioritize the locations to install APS technology.

We are looking for suggestions of signalized intersections that would benefit from the installation of the APS.

A few items to consider:

1)      Please be as specific as possible with your locations, ideally a street and cross street.

2)      APS can only be installed at signalized intersections.

3)      There are two independent projects in the area which will include the installation of new APS so those locations need not be identified in the survey.

a.       4th Street between Evans Avenue and Galletti Way

b.      Virginia Street between Plumb Lane and California Avenue
