This is a new Scheme all about safeguarding this special and cherished border landscape. The Scheme will mainly be funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund alongside contributions from local organisations and groups.

The Scheme aims to conserve and restore natural and cultural heritage, increase community involvement in the local heritage, increase opportunities for access to and interpretation of local natural and cultural heritage and increase opportunities for training in heritage skills.

During 2012 we are working with local landowners, residents and communities to increase people's awarness of this special landscape and to develop appropriate projects and activities for the area. The Scheme will actually start in Summer 2013 and go on for 5 years.

The Scheme will be managed by a Partnership made up of professional and community representatives from Powys and Shropshire and will cover an area bounded by the settlements of Churchstoke, Chirbury, Minsterley, Pontesbury, Bridges, Wentnor and Norbury. The lead partner for the Scheme is the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) Partnership.
