Training & Registration Fee Policy

The Ohio Center for Substitute Teachers (OCST) offers a Sub Skills Online Training course for substitute teachers.  The course includes evidence-based practices with a focus on skills training in lieu of education theory.

Our goal is to professionalize substitute teaching and we believe that with the right set of tools, all substitute teachers can meet or exceed expectations of school district staff and students. We look forward to working with all participants in developing successful substitute teaching skills.

Online Training Package:
The course fee of $50.00 includes a 6 to 8 hour course reviewing classroom management, teaching strategies, professionalism, special education, and legal issues; sub assessment with which you have four tries to achieve your best score (requirement of 85% score or higher).   Upon completion of the course and assessment, you will print the certificate (Sub Diploma) with your score to supply to any school districts that you apply for employment as a substitute teacher.

Our policy regarding payment for professional development requires that the $50 course fee must be paid in the form of a check or money order made payable to Pickaway County ESC.   Cash payments may be accepted at the Pickaway County ESC during business hours.  After payment is received at the Pickaway County ESC, you will be emailed the instructions, coupon code to access the course and instructions as to printing the Sub Diploma.
