1. Welcome to the Global CBRN Horizon Scan: Hardware Technology Survey
The Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense and the Defense Threat Reduction Agency/Joint Science and Technology Office have tasked the U.S. Army Edgewood Chemical Biological Center to continue the collection of data on CBRN surveillance hardware systems which have applicability in assessing human exposure to chemical, biological, and radiological agents. This horizon scan is targeting information on commercially available and maturing diagnostic & identification/detection products that have technology readiness levels from TRL 4 to TRL 9 which does not include basic research concepts (1). The information you provide will be used for inclusion in a product guide and may be used for planning purposes by the U.S. government.
This effort includes all forms of CHEMICAL, BIOLOGICAL and RADIOLOGICAL analysis platforms, ranging from manual systems to fully automated technologies. The 2013 CBRN Horizon Scan has been updated to help chemical and radiological systems to better utilize the collection tool. The focus of this survey is on the hardware systems and information on software that supports CBRN surveillance efforts will be collected under a separate effort.
Based on user input and internal analysis of the 2011 Chemical, Biological, Radiological Technology Survey we have made significant changes and improvements to the 2013 Global CBRN Horizon Scan. As such, ALL TECHNOLOGIES must submit a new survey to be included in the new version. However, roughly 90% of the questions remain the same. If you would like a copy of your answers for the 2011 survey to expedite the survey process, please send an email to cbrnhorizonscan@bah.com
This horizon scan will have a WIDE DISTRIBUTION throughout the ENTIRE chemical, biological, and radiological defense research community. Please do not submit proprietary or classified information.
For your system to be included please complete a separate survey for each system of interest. After you have completed the survey please be sure to email an electronic image of your product with the questionnaire (preferably JPEG images at 300 dpi) that we can use with the completed market survey as requested in question #3. If you have more than one electronic image for a system, you can send another but only a single image per product will be selected.
