Investigation into the Occupational and Emotional Experiences of Sexual Assault Crisis Advocates |
Informed Consent
You are invited to participate in a survey regarding the experiences of sexual assault advocates and crisis counselors titled "Investigation into the Occupational and Emotional Experiences of Sexual Assault Crisis Advocates." You have been invited to participate in this study because you are currently working as a sexual assault advocate in the New England where this research is being conducted. The purpose of this research is to learn more about the experiences of sexual assault advocates and crisis counselors in regards to trauma and the impact that workplace support, training and personal encounters with victims and survivors of sexual assault may have on these experiences.
This survey includes questions regarding your work experiences, personal and family life and questions regarding personal experiences with sexual violence. The survey consists of both open and closed ended questions and will take roughly 30 minutes to complete.
This study involves minimal risk, however, you will be asked questions that are personal in nature and could trigger emotional responses. There are no direct benefits to you for participating.
Any information obtained in the study that could identify you will be kept confidential. All identifying information will be removed from any reports or publications resulting from this research.
There is no direct financial compensation; however, as a thank you for your time you can choose to enter a random drawing for an Apple I-Pad. You can still participate in the drawing even if you choose to end your participation in the survey.
Participation in this research is voluntary. Your decision whether or not to participate will not affect your present or future relationship with Sacred Heart University. If you decide to participate, you are free to withdraw your consent and to discontinue participation at any time. The researcher is available by phone at 908-489-1855 and by email at morasa@sacredheart.edu to answer any immediate or subsequent questions you may have.
