Mobile Sim Lab Effectiveness Survey IDHS 2013

Greetings! Thank you for taking time to complete our survey!

The IDHS Mobile Sim Lab has been in operation for a little over a year and a half and we felt like it was time to dig a little deeper than just the number of training sessions and attendees.

In this survey we are interested in gathering some demographic data and your overall opinion of the program itself. As most of you know, the program is continually evolving and evaluations after individual training sessions, surveys on how we can improve, etc. will be available in the near future.
*
1. Demographic Information: What is your role in EMS?
*
2. Are you volunteer or career?
*
3. How long have you been involved in EMS (Choose one)? *
*
4. Prior to your training session (s) with the Mobile Simulation Lab and the ISTAN (or PediaSim) human patient simulator, had you ever seen or trained with a high-fidelity simulator?
*
5. If you HAVE worked with a high-fidelity human patient simulator prior to the Mobile Sim Lab, in what situation was it available? *
Please choose the best answer for the following statements.
*
6. I have been provided a good introduction to high-fidelity simulation and how it can improve learning and patient safety.
Strongly DisagreeDisagreeNeutralAgreeStrongly Agree
*
7. I was (initially) unsure of or intimidated about interacting with the simulator.
Strongly DisagreeDisagreeNeutralAgreeStrongly AgreeN/A
*
8. I was more comfortable with the simulator and did you have a better understanding of the simulator’s capabilities and limitations at the end of the session.
Strongly DisagreeDisagreeNeutralAgreeStrongly AgreeN/A
*
9. Physical Patient Assessment
Using a high-fidelity simulator where vital signs, breath sounds, etc. can be programmed, vs. a human patient where most assessment clues are “voiced” is an advantage in teaching both new and experienced EMS personnel. (In addition to standard teaching methods.)
Strongly DisagreeDisagreeNeutralAgreeStrongly Agree
*
10. Scene Management & Teamwork
Using high-fidelity simulators in highly choreographed scenarios would help EMT and paramedic students grasp the “big picture” if they were exposed to them on a regular basis. (In addition to standard teaching methods.)
Strongly DisagreeDisagreeNeutralAgreeStrongly Agree
*
11. Personal Learning
Using high-fidelity simulators and hands-on scenarios would improve how you personally learn new concepts or skills once the novelty of the simulator itself has worn off – most CPR mannequins don’t blink at you (!) – and using it became routine.
Strongly DisagreeDisagreeNeutralAgreeStrongly Agree
MSL PROGRAM QUESTIONS
*
12. Do you (as a student, provider, or instructor) have access to a stationary simulation lab in a school, hospital, or other facility?
*
13. Should IDHS continue the FREE Mobile Sim Lab Program?
*
14. Does the Mobile Sim Lab provide the type of hands-on training that most pre-hospital care providers enjoy?
*
15. Would you request the Mobile Sim Lab again and/or recommend it to another agency?
*
16. Would you be interested in signing up for a structured day or evening class of nothing but scenarios? These classes would still be FREE, but would require advance registration and would be limited to between eight (8) and sixteen (16) participants.

*
18. Name/Email address
Optional, but please include if you would like to have your comments quoted.
