Informed Consent
Many people in university communities, and many in the larger society, are concerned about academic dishonesty. Cheating has been an ongoing issue in colleges and universities since the early Twentieth Century. We are interested in finding out what we can about how cheating is different today and how it has changed since our previous three studies of cheating over the last thirty years.
You are invited to participate in a study examining the critical issue of academic dishonesty on our campus. If you agree to participate, you will be asked to read and respond to questions by clicking the link below. Your total time commitment for participation in this study will be about 25 minutes. You must be at least 18 years of age.
There are no major risks involved in answering the questionnaire completely and truthfully. Any information obtained in connection with this study will remain anonymous. The information you provide for extra credit will not be connected with your survey responses. We do ask about your attitudes and experiences concerning cheating in college, but your answers remain strictly anonymous. Only data averaged for all subjects will be disclosed in scientific publications. If you decide to participate, you are free to discontinue participation at any time. If you decide to withdraw from the study, there will be no information gathered about you.
