Shop Preparation: Better Block Jefferson Park will have four shops popping up in currently vacant spaces. The spaces need to be cleaned up, painted, and set up for the day. Tasks include: dusting, vacuuming, mopping, painting, furniture moving. Number of people needed: 12 people each shift.

What to wear: old clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty or painted.

* 4. Shop Setup: Once the storefronts are cleaned and painted, we’ll be moving in and setting up furniture and merchandise. * 5. Electrician: We need a licensed electrician to assist in shop set-up and antique lamp posts and 25th and Eliot. Tasks include: basic repairs, troubleshooting and correcting electrical issues within project sites. Number of people needed: 1 - 2 each shift

* 6. Exterior Painting and Improvements: We’ll be painting the exterior trim and doors of the new pop-up storefronts. Tasks include: cleaning, taping, painting. We’ll be painting as high as 15 feet up, so ladder work will be required. Number of people needed: 8-12 each shift

Street Graphics Crew: We’ll creatively paint the intersection to make it visually appealing and safe at the same time. This will happen on Friday night, while we have the street closed, so night-owls are needed! Tasks include: cleaning, painting, stenciling, etc. We’ll be painting the ground, so strong backs and knees are needed. Number of people needed: 4-6

* 14. Photographers: We need photographers that can bring their own equipment take high resolution (300 dpi+) photos. Volunteers should have the resources to provide us with all video footage in *.jpg or *.gif format by the Monday after the event. (We’d prefer that that photographers to use DSLRS and use RAW file extension to convert down to *.jpg or *.gif.)

Videographers: We need videographers who can bring their own equipment to take high definition video with quality audio (we’d prefer if you had a microphone with a 48 Hz frequency response or higher). Volunteer footage that would work best for me would need to shot in Canon Dslr 1080 24p or 720 60p in cinestyle color profile using a tripod or other stabilizing support system. It would be best if cameras used can capture QuickTime only extensions (.mov,.3gp,.3g2,.mp4,.m4a,.m4v), but the following extensions could work - Adobe Flash® (.swf), AVI Movie (.avi), AVCHD (.m2ts,.mts,.m2t), DV Stream (.dv), MPEG Movie(.mpeg,.vob,.mod,.ac3,.mpe,.mpg,.mpd,.m2v,.mpa,.mp2,.m2a,.mpv,.m2p,.m2t,.m1v,.mp4,.m4v,.m4a,.aac, 3gp,.avc,.264), TOD (.tod), Windows Media (.wmv,.asf). Volunteers should have the resources to provide us with all video footage by the Monday after the event.

* 16. Bicycle Valets: Bikes are more than welcome at Better Block! We need two people per shift to park and watch bikes in our bike corral. You will welcome bikers to the event, provide them with a claim ticket, and park their bike in the corral. When they return, you take the ticket and give them their bike.
