INTRODUCTION

Environmental Education has a long history in Massachusetts. Benchmarks on the way to Environmental Literacy k-12 was drafted in 1996, by a committee of educators chaired by Charles Roth. Funded by the Federal Environmental Education
Act. In 2000, a Massachusetts Environmental Education Plan (MEEP) was led by Dr. Alan Hankin. Our plan is to build upon these earlier works to create an updated Environmental Literacy Plan for Massachusetts.

This survey will inform the development of this new plan to develop a state-wide structure for promoting, developing and assessing environmental education activities in Massachusetts. The survey will gather information to shape a shared vision, learn about current practices and opportunities for growth and solicit both feedback and participation in the process. We would like to reach a range of stakeholders across the Commonwealth including educators, business, government, organizations and clubs.

Thank you in advance for your contribution to this work. Please share this survey with your networks.
