CALL FOR PROPOSALS
The theme for the 39th Annual Professional Development MAEOPP Conference is:
“The Cornerstones of Educational Opportunity: Accountability, Advocacy and Alliances”
Dates: November 3-6, 2013
Location: Columbus, Ohio - Hyatt Regency Columbus
350 North High Street
Columbus, Ohio 43215
The success of the professional development conference depends on the active participation and contribution of the membership in presenting sessions and workshops that are engaging and informative. We invite you to submit a proposal to share your expertise; successful programs and activities; and innovative practices and procedures with TRIO and other educational opportunity program colleagues.
The purpose of the workshop sessions is to increase the knowledge of and provide practical tools for the attendees to utilize and that support the work we do with students, staff, colleagues and within the community.
Prospective workshop presenters are encouraged to submit proposals on a variety of topics focused on the required services of our programs. The topics can include but are not limited to the following:
• Best Practices in Staff/Program Supervision
• Best Practices in Promoting Professional Development/Leadership
• Best Practices at Community and Technical Colleges
• Best Practices for Program Administrative Assistants
• Collaboration with Other Educational Associations
• Financial Literacy Programs for Program Participants
• Learning Assistance Programs and Model Practices in Student Programming
• Maximizing Your TRIO/EOP Budget
• Online Tutoring and Tutor Tracking
• Programming Strategies for Working with Non-Traditional Students
• Retention/Recruiting Tools
• Scholarship Information and Strategies for Program Participants
• Strategies for Working with Adult Learners
• Strategies for Working with Institutional Administration
• TRIO State Advocacy
• TRIO and Non-TRIO Collaboration
• Using Technology for Connections and Communication with Program Participants
• Writing for additional funding beyond your TRIO or EOP Grant
The due date for submitted proposals is: Monday, September 30, 2013.
Notification via e-mail regarding proposals will occur by: Monday, October 7, 2013.
All presenters are required to be registered for the conference. If you are not registered by October 7, 2013 you will be ineligible to present.
