Northeastern Illinois University History Survey of Alumni

A book-length history of Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) is underway. The book is being written by NEIU alumnus Richard C. Lindberg (B.A. 1974, M.A. 1987), a Chicago historian and the author of 16 published volumes. Inspired by Professor Emeritus and NEIU benefactor Dr. Bernard Brommel, who launched the NEIU Founder’s Society, the university history will tell the complete story of Northeastern from its early beginnings as a “Normal School” in Blue Island dating back to 1867; the transfer to Englewood a year later; its re-birth as Chicago Teacher’s College South; the formation of the North Side extension classes in the 1950s; the building of the Bryn Mawr campus in 1960 up through the modern times. Lindberg is interested in supplementing the narrative history with the quoted recollections and special memories of NEIU graduates from all decades for possible publication. Please take a moment to complete the survey and provide as much detail as you can. We encourage you to pass this survey on to other NEIU alumni so they may contribute their memories as well. Thank you.
