This survey is for employers in the City of Eureka and those with employees who do work within the City of Eureka. It should take approximately 20 minutes to complete.
Eureka ballots for the November 4, 2014 election will include Measure R - the Minimum Wage Ordinance, which would raise the minimum wage in the City of Eureka from $9/hour to $12/hour for companies and organizations within the City limits who employ 25 people or more. Organizations outside the City limits with 25 or more employees could also be subject to the Ordinance for employees that work at least 2 hours/week within the City limits.
An employee is someone who, during a particular calendar week, performs at least 2 hours of work for an employer. This includes part time, seasonal, and temporary employees.
Nonprofits are major employers in this community. They also provide support and services to low-income working people and families, yet their perspectives have largely remained unrepresented in the news and information coming out about the Eureka Minimum Wage Ordinance (Measure R). NorCAN is conducting this short survey to gauge how the local nonprofit sector will be impacted by the Ordinance, to find out their views on the need for such a policy, and to share that information with the larger community in a 1-page report through our website, listserve, Facebook, and local media outlets.
NorCAN will not be taking a position on the Ordinance. It is our intention to provide information based on the results of this survey, encourage people to vote, and support voters in learning as much as they can about issues on the November ballot.
You will have the option to include your organization in a list of survey participants. However, individual responses will be kept confidential by NorCAN staff.
