Applications are due on Friday, June 14, 2013 by 5:00 p.m. EST. Under no circumstances will applications
be accepted after this deadline. The application contains several essay questions and should take about 1 hour to complete. Completing and sending this survey does not finish the application process. A separate letter of recommendation must be submitted by email, as well as authorization from your supervisor that grants you permission to take time off from work to attend the sessions.

There are several items of note related to the Leadership Institute that you should consider prior to applying:

1. Sessions will be held in various venues throughout the region. The ability of the participants to travel to these venues is required.

2. There will be some time requirement for activity outside of the program days. While this will not be a substantial amount of time, applicants should be aware that there will be homework and a commitment to a group mini Technical Assistance Project that will require work outside of the time spent in class.

3. Membership in ULI s not a requirement of being accepted into the program but participants will be encouraged to become ULI members during the program year.

4. While multiple people from the same organization may apply to the program, no more than one person from any organization may participate in the program.
The criteria for successful candidates include:
1. Be an emerging leader. This program is primarily for professionals who are poised to assume leadership positions in their organization or profession in the near future.
2. Have a minimum of 5 years experience in the for-profit, non-profit or public sector in the real estate industry or related fields, including development, housing, architecture, planning, government, transportation, finance, or sustainability.
3. You must be fully committed to the program. The Regional Land Use Institute will require a significant time commitment. The program length is nine months. There is an opening dinner prior to the first program day, eight full day seminars, and a group project that will require time outside of the traditional program days. If accepted to this prestigious and competitive program, you are pledging in good faith to become fully engaged and involved. Attendance at both the dinner and first session on September 18/19, 2013 and the last program day on May 15, 2014 is mandatory. One excused absence over the remaining seven program days is permitted.
