Target Audience: Intended for accreditation coordinators, safety officers, risk managers, quality management and performance improvement directors, facility and engineering managers, fire safety professionals in healthcare, and administrative and clinical staff who manage others with Environment of Care and Life Safety responsibilities. Healthcare staff from medical centers, ambulatory care centers, clinics, nursing homes, mental health facilities and other health-related organizations that are required to comply with the Joint Commission “EC” and Life Safety standards

Course Overview
This 1-hour Webinar program will provide information for those individuals who need to understand what the Joint Commission is likely to ask medical center staff with regard to Physical Environment issues during the actual survey. The program will include a discussion of the most likely questions that the surveyors will ask with specific guidance concerning appropriate staff responses. The list of questions will include the areas of safety, security, hazardous materials, emergency management, fire safety, medical equipment and utility management. Materials that will be provided will include sample forms and checklists to assist in preparing for the Physical Environment Tracer portion of the survey and time will be provided for questions from the participants.

Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, the participants will be able to:
1. Identify the most likely questions the Joint commission surveyors will ask medical center staff from the Physical Environment.
2. Determine what answers the survey team will expect from the medical center staff.
3. Simulate the Physical Environment tracers in your own organization.
4. Effectively respond to unanticipated questions from the surveyors.
