Explanatory Style as a Protective Factor for Victimized LGBTQ Adolescents

Thank you for your interest in our study! We believe your responses are very important, and could lead to programs to help LGBTQ youth who struggle with symptoms of depression and suicidality.

The purpose of this study is to identify protective factors for sexual minority adolescents who have experienced victimization. Specifically, we are looking at the way adolescents explain negative events that happen to them, in order to find out if some of these ways protect adolescents from developing depression. You have been asked to participate in this study so we can obtain representative responses from 18-22 year olds who are not exclusively heterosexual in their sexual feelings, attractions, or experiences. We would also like to gain responses from people who are transgender.

We appreciate your time in completing this study. Once you are done with the questions, you will be given the opportunity to enter a drawing for one of four $25 electronic iTunes gift cards. Entering this drawing will in no way link your contact information to your responses to the survey.
