HCEA strives to be the premier organization where health care educators from various disciplines collaborate in the development and use of evidence-based tools for client and staff education.

Conference Theme:
The 2013 program is focused on patient education, staff education and professional development and is organized around three key aspects of education:
• Foundation of patient education</tab>
• Tools of the trade
• Innovation – driving our practice to new heights

Foundation of Patient Education: This track focuses on the implementation of practical approaches to education, including health literacy, integration of patient education into daily patient care and teaching non-native English speakers. Share your ideas on practical processes and systems you use in your organization to teach staff, patients and families.

Tools of the Trade: This track highlights the tools/methodologies used to enhance knowledge transfer. Focuses on teach back, decisional aids and other tools that assist in the learning process.

Innovation – Driving Our Practice to New Heights: This track focuses on innovations in patient, client and staff education. Special interest in the use of technology in teaching, including social media and the impact of electronic medical records on education.
