Introduction

ALL FACE TO FACE COURSES ARE CANCELLED!!

Due to the current state of affairs regarding the COVID19 virus, we are currently unsure of the future situation concerning COVID19. Therefore, we are presently NOT booking safety reps on to a face to face course for this year.

However, we are now running virtual CSP Safety Rep Distance Learning Online courses which the CSP has designed and developed as an induction for newly elected/accredited safety reps so that safety reps can take part in training and also help provide some knowledge to help carry out your role.

So, if you are a newly elected/accredited safety rep and would like to register for a place on to one of the online courses please contact Sam Kyriacou at kyriacous@csp.org.uk.  PLEASE DO NOT COMPLETE THE FORM BELOW.

The CSP's strength depends on you carrying out your role as a Safety Rep effectively. We believe it is vital that you receive the proper training which will help you develop the knowledge, skills and confidence required for this role. The initial training is delivered via the Safety Reps Induction Course. This course is free to you, and your travel (and other reasonable) costs, will be met by the CSP, as well as any childcare and dependent care expenses you may incur as a result of attending the course.

Course Content

The course covers amongst other issues:

  • The job & rights of a safety representative
  • Dealing with workplace problems
  • Working with your manager
  • Safety Committees
  • Inspections & Risk Assessments
  • Health & Safety Law
  • Representing your members
  • Injuries at work

Your Rights to Time Off for Training

As a safety rep, you have the legal right to paid time-off to attend a course of initial training as soon as possible after your appointment. If you have any problems getting time off, please contact the ERUS Department immediately.

Certificates of Attainment

On successful completion of the course, you will receive a Level 1, Certificate of Attainment for CPD purposes, for courses run by the CSP. The Open College Network accredits the course as well, as it is co-tutored by the TUC.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions about the course. Contact Sam Kyriacou, Email Sam or on 020 7306 6679.

Non Residential

These courses are run at the CSP in London, and are non-residential. Each day will start at 9.30am and finish at 5.00pm. Lunch, tea and coffee will be provided.

Accommodation may be provided if your travel to the CSP takes longer than 2 hours.

Please contact us Email Sam to let us know if you will need accommodation or not.

Travel

Your travel (and other reasonable expenses) will be met by the CSP. You will need to book your own train tickets by using the CSP Trainline website link (detailed instructions will be provided). If you are travelling from Scotland or Northern Ireland, the CSP will pay for your flights. If you are travelling from other areas, and are able to get a cheap flight, then we may pay (must be pre-approved by the CSP), depending on the cost.

If you do travel by air, we ask that you to book your own air tickets and claim the cost back on an expense claim. It may be possible for the CSP to book your air tickets, under special circumstances. If this is necessary, you must contact Sam Kyriacou Email Sam at least four weeks before the course starts to enable enough time for approval, booking the tickets, and posting them to you.

Childcare and Diverse Needs

If you have any problems attending a course because of caring responsibilities or diverse needs, please get in touch immediately.

You can reclaim any child or dependent care costs you incur as a result of attending the course.

If you have any other diverse needs, please let Sam Kyriacou, Email Sam know when you first apply, to enable us to make the proper arrangements. One of the course tutors will contact you to discuss the details.
