Thank you for your interest in the ASPIRE Module, "STEM Teaching in K-12 Schools". Enrollment in this module is limited to 10 people.

In addition to attending the four, 2hr didactic sessions, each participant will have the opportunity to experience the K-12 classroom through a volunteer placement in a middle or high school setting. The placements will be tailored to each participant, and will range from one class period to a full day, depending on participant availability. The placement will ideally be scheduled during the last week of the module, but this will depend on participant and classroom availability. Placements will be finalized with participant approval.

As part of the application for this module, you will need to submit a CV and brief personal statement (4-8 sentences) explaining your interest in this module. These will be used to select the students and postdocs who will participate. Please have both items ready when you complete this application.

ASPIRE Module Attendance Policy Due to the limited nature of these modules, it is important that registrants attend all sessions and participate fully, including completing assignments outside of class. Class size is limited and the module may only be offered once per year. Thus, we expect that absences should only occur in the case of illness or other unforeseen circumstance, which should be discussed with the module director. Unexcused absences will influence your ability to register for future modules and obtain travel funds for externships and internships with the ASPIRE program. We encourage you to maintain open communication with your advisor and discuss any significant time away from the lab in advance.
