About the Reading Tennis Experience Survey

The Reading tennis court program and monitoring program are produced and operated by the Recreation Division. These programs are not supported by taxes but instead funded collectively through the annual programs run by the Rec. Division each year.  The tennis program itself is also supported by nominal pass fees to help offset the costs of ligthing the facility and monitoring staff during the "Priority Pass" Season.

We are currently investigating an option of "On-line Court Reservations" which would allow players to "book" some courts, but not all, in advance.  This would be for folks that prefer not to risk arriving and having the courts be full.  Your feedback on this particular issue is very important to us.

Reading Recreation wishes to learn more about your tennis experience in Town on the Town Courts to help us better serve you, the player.

Here is the current "Priority Pass" System in case you are not familiar with it:

The premise of the “Priority pass” is to help bring some order to the peak-use time of the courts and to help defray the costs of the lights.

The Reading Community Tennis Courts at Birch Meadow are amongst the best of their kind in the state. Folks travel from all over to utilize this state-of-the art facility. The six courts are able to handle the excessive traffic during most parts of any day/time except Monday – Friday from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM during late spring to early fall.

How the program works:
• Priority Pass covers court use from June - Early September (Monday – Friday Only, excluding holidays) beginning at 5:00 PM.
• Prioirty Pass is for Peak Hours in which lights are used for a portion of the time and there is very heavy traffic
• Courts monitored by Recreation Seasonal Staff for that stretch of time, players check in/book time upon arrival
• Priority Pass would allow holders to bring up to 3 people with them to play
• At any other time, the courts are free to use besides the dates and times above
• There is no preference for resident pass holders to non-resident pass holders for use
• Players may use the courts without a pass, however a pass holder may/bump a non-pass holder off any court
• Any and all disputes will be settled by the Tennis Court Monitor
• Any person or groups acting in a manner that is deemed inappropriate by the monitor will be asked to leave and may have their pass(es) revoked.
• Priority Passes may not be re-sold, transferred or refunded for any reason.
* Priority Pass fees are $10 for Residents, $25 for a Family Pass and $100 for non-residents
