Public Library Survey 2014

Last year we asked New York’s public library staff and system administrators to respond to a survey that gave the NY State Library information that resulted in an IMLS planning grant awarded in March 2014. That grant is currently enabling development of a state-wide training plan to be implemented over a three year period beginning 2015. This will include building partnerships and a cohort of trainers who are working to refine training content and modes of delivery to train library staff to provide enhanced early literacy services to their communities.

The purpose of this survey is two-fold. It will help refine and focus efforts during the current planning year. Most importantly, it will provide the information needed for the three year implementation grant application being submitted this fall to IMLS’ Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program. That grant (if awarded) will help to obtain and build the resources to train public library staff to deliver services that help to meet State and National mandates for improving early literacy levels. We are grateful for the time you spend completing this survey.
