The Sy Award honors a person who has dedicated their life to promoting justice, equality, and access to the halls of power for all. Nominees can be from Multnomah County at large, county staff, or members of county committees and boards.
ONE SINGLE QUALIFICATION: a person who's demonstrated a lifelong commitment to justice, equality, and obtaining access to the halls of power for all citizens.
The Multnomah County Citizen Involvement Committee (CIC) is seeking nominees for the 2013 Sy Award. It's given in honor of Sy Kornbrodt whose passion and voice on behalf of underserved and underrepresented citizens in Multnomah County inspired the CIC to create the award. Sy’s willingness to say what he thought and get things done were legendary during his work at the Multnomah County Division of Corrections; service as a board member with the Multnomah Education Service District, Sullivan’s Gulch Neighborhood Association, and the CIC; as well as his work with other initiatives and organizations.
The awardee is invited to the CIC's annual dinner in June, receives a plaque, and may receive coverage by local media.
DEADLINE: NOMINATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY 5:00PM ON MONDAY, MAY 27TH, 2013.
