Instructions and Background:

The PCC Secretariat is sending this survey to current BIBCO institutions to solicit their thoughts on implementing RDA for monographic cataloging.

The Secretariat assumes that all BIBCO libraries will undergo RDA NACO training to continue as NACO contributors after March 31, 2013 PCC Day One for RDA Authority Records. Almost all BIBCO partners appear on the RDA NACO Training Schedule.

There is no PCC Day One for RDA Bibliographic Records for monographs as yet, and BIBCO institutions have the opportunity to set their own timetables for moving to RDA for BIBCO records. Some BIBCO libraries may have certain staff using RDA and others using AACR2, and some BIBCO libraries may opt to remain with AACR2 for the time being.

Free online RDA training materials available through the Cataloger’s Learning Workshop web site cover both authorities and descriptive cataloging of monographic materials. These modules are “bridge” materials suitable to assist current contributors to PCC programs to move into RDA cataloging.

Whether your institution implements RDA for both NACO and BIBCO by early 2013 or wishes to continue using AACR2 descriptive cataloging instructions for some time to come, it is important that you participate in this survey. The asterisk "*" by Questions 1 and 2 indicates that everyone is required to supply an answer. Questions 3-6 apply mostly to institutions who plan to implement RDA. The responses from the entire BIBCO community will help develop training and reviewing resources and guidelines for cooperation during a time of transition.

*****Please have one person from your BIBCO institution complete this survey by August 31, 2012. *****

Further announcements about the availability of RDA training resources will be made on the PCC lists.
