The I-75 South Metro Express Lanes project will add 12 miles of managed toll lanes along I-75 south of Atlanta. They will run from SR 155 McDonough Road to SR 138 Stockbridge Highway. Express lanes are optional toll lanes built alongside the existing roads, adding another travel option for motorists and supporting transit by providing a dedicated path for buses and vanpools. The lanes will rely on dynamic pricing similar to the lanes currently operating on I-85 north of the city, meaning drivers will pay tolls using a Peach Pass. Toll rates will rise as demand increases during peak travel times and decrease during off-peak times. These express lanes will be reversible, allowing drivers to use the lanes to head north toward Atlanta during weekday morning commute times and south during the evening. The directional flow of the express lanes during the weekend will be based on the traffic volumes and seasonal events.
