In Metropolitan Community Churches Elders are those individuals who carry the primary responsibility to give pastoral leadership and care to enable the Fellowship in our spiritual journey. Elders are appointed by the Moderator, some of whom serve in a full-time capacity and others who serve in a volunteer capacity. Prospective appointees for the position of Elder in MCC must meet all qualifications for Elders as defined in the UFMCC Bylaws as well as the selection criteria as defined by the Moderator.

Currently, four persons are serving as MCC Elders; Rev. Elder Nancy Wilson, Rev. Elder Darlene Garner, Rev. Elder Hector Gutierrez, and Rev. Elder Mona West. In 2015, the Moderator will appoint up to five additional Elders.

Prospective appointees may be recommended to the Moderator by any of the following:

1. Currently honorably retired clergy or clergy with an active license to practice in UFMCC
2. Current lay delegates of an affiliated UFMCC church
3. Members of the Governing Board of the UFMCCC
4. Current or former Elders of the UFMCC

Those making such a recommendation shall confirm that the prospective appointee understands the qualifications and duties of an Elder in MCC and is willing to serve in this role.
