SMACS introduction

SMACS "Small Craft Emergency Response and Survival Training for Arctic Conditions" is a project funded by the Northern Periphery Programme of the EU (http://www.northernperiphery.eu/en/home/) and is supported by the European Regional Development Fund.

SMACS (www.smacs-project.eu) will use the combined expertise of the partners in maritime training and search-and-rescue to develop an emergency response and survival training programme and manual focused on the needs of small-craft mariners on commercial, fishing and leisure vessels operating in the Harsh Arctic Maritime Regions. The training packages will be designed for delivery by local training organisations across the NPP region.

Our definition of a "small-craft" is one less than 15m in length or less than 500 gross tonnes (SOLAS)

Your answers to the questions in this survey will help to shape the content of the SMACS Training Programme. We appreciate the time you are taking to help us make the Arctic a safer place for all small-craft mariners.
