As part of its developing strategy for engagement with the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry sector, BBSRC is planning to hold a series of free ‘Showcase’ events around the country for an industry audience. This event is the pilot event and its purpose will be threefold:

Raising Awareness of Our Research
To provide a showcase to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry of BBSRC’s corporate strategy, remit and funding schemes, with a focus on relevant case studies from our research portfolio. These will include both academia-only and academia-industry collaborative projects.

Improving Our Visibility
To highlight the range of interactions which may take place between BBSRC and companies in this sector at the research, training and policy levels.

Eliciting Feedback From Industry (Two-way Communication)
To use these events to elicit feedback from the industry as to how it views interactions with the Council in this sector.

This event is targeted at biotech and pharma sector companies across the south east, and will be most relevant to R&D managers, business development professionals and academic liaison staff. The event will commence with a networking lunch, followed by several case studies of BBSRC-funded research under our key strategic priority Basic Bioscience Underpinning Health (BBUH). These will include basic biological research as well as collaborative research conducted in close conjunction with industry through BBSRC’s numerous collaborative schemes. The event will close with a networking drinks/poster reception, when delegates will be able to network with speakers as well as a number of BBSRC-funded academics from the University of Cambridge.
