The Care Act is coming! From April, councils have a legal duty to support Carers, improve their wellbeing and enable them to carry on caring (if they are willing).
· In Greenwich, we will be investing more money in advice, information and support for carers. We want your views so we commission the right services.
· As you may know, carers who have had a carers assessment can currently be given an annual payment of £50, £250 or £500. Going forward, Carers who meet the “eligibility threshold”, will be given an annual budget to spend on getting the support they need; if it cannot be met by existing carer support services. Budgets must be spent on goods or services that are agreed with you..
