Learn how to integrate hands-on STEM activities into your classroom with this professional development program for middle school teachers. Explore various strategies that incorporate literacy in the science classroom by learning how to integrate non-fiction texts to create a richer learning experience for students. Participants will explore how to help students ask focused questions, set up investigations and practice inquiry-based problem solving. By the end of this institute participants will cover various techniques to help them successfully engage a broad spectrum of learners and teach a well-rounded science curriculum, regardless of the content topic. The STEM institute meets over four days for a total of 30 hours. Participants will receive a $250 stipend at the end of the institute.
