Businesses within Pontypridd town centre are considering establishing a Business Improvement District (BID), a mechanism which empowers local businesses to champion improvements for their trading environment.  This could provide opportunities to market Pontypridd as a destination for visitors, increase footfall, improve the town centre environment and support existing businesses by working collaboratively.

Based on views from an initial feasibility study, a number of key themes have arisen which could be addressed by developing a BID. This is what Pontypridd businesses said:

1. Access & parking:
- Parking (price and location)
- Signage and enhancing gateways

2. Marketing and events:
-Marketing and visitor promotion campaigns to increase footfall
-Regular events to complement the existing programme and enhance the town centre experience
-Loyalty initiatives to encourage people to shop local and spend more

3. Providing business support & filling voids:
-Reducing business costs through collective purchasing
-Enticing new and complementary businesses
-Enhancing the look of empty units
