Call for proposals for the Frontier Science lecture series at the ASE Annual Conference

In January 2016, the ASE will be returning to the University of Birmingham with this flagship science education conference that attracts over 2,500 participants from across the UK and beyond engaged in science teaching from Early Years to A-level. For the Annual Conference, ASE hosts a programme of over 300 CPD sessions. A core part of the programme is the Frontier Science series. This is curated by the host University and aims to showcase research from all aspects of science to offer our audience of science teachers a chance to enhance their subject knowledge.

Anyone currently involved in scientific research can submit a proposal for a Frontier Science lecture. All proposals will be reviewed by a panel made up of members of the science departments at the University of Birmingham. To add a coherence to the Frontier Science lecture series, we are looking for proposals within the following themes:
- Treating and tackling disease
- From the very big to the very small (and everything in between!): From Particle Physics to Cosmology
- Engineering the micro-world: Quantum Technologies
- Human interactions and our natural environment
- Understanding and enhancing sporting prowess
If you would like to submit more than one session proposal, simply fill in this survey form again at the end. You will be given the opportunity to update your session details before the conference programme is published but please now include the title, brief abstract and short biog so that your session can be reviewed by the Frontier Science panel.

Science Education Sessions
There is also the opportunity for anyone to propose a session focused on science teaching and learning:
- Share ideas and practical activities from the classroom
- Showcase a new resource
- Provide updates on subject knowledge
- Present research approaches and findings
- Examine assessment
- Launch an initiative or new programme

Notes for proposal submissions
Expenses - The conference continues to provide a high quality programme at very low cost because of the generosity of the presenters. The ASE is unable to pay fees, travelling and accommodation expenses. All presenters are entitled to one free day’s registration for their contribution to the programme.
Decisions will be made by 30 June, when you will be notified.
When you make a submission please keep 7, 8 & 9 January 2016 free. If your proposal is accepted then the precise date of your talk will be confirmed by 30 July 2016.
